Week 4 – Strengthen Your Online & Digital Presence

Longhorn Council Summer Recruitment Series: Week 4

Strengthen Your Online & Digital Presence
June 22 – 28, 2026

With your recruitment team in place, goals set, membership reviewed, and your program calendar taking shape, it is time to make sure families across Longhorn Council can easily find and connect with your unit online.

Welcome to Week 4 of the 2026 Longhorn Council Summer Recruitment Planning Series. In today’s digital world, most parents begin their Scouting search online. This week is all about strengthening your unit’s digital footprint so it appears professional, welcoming, and easy to navigate for families throughout North Texas.

What to Do This Week (June 22–28)

1. Update Your BeAScout.org Unit Pin

Log in and ensure every detail—meeting times, location, photos, and contact information—is current, accurate, and inviting. This pin is often the very first impression families receive when searching for local Scouting options.

2. Refresh Your Unit Website, Social Media, and Directory Listings

Review and update content across your unit website (if you have one), Facebook, Instagram, and any council or community directories where your pack or troop appears.

3. Add Fresh, Authentic Content

Upload recent photos and short descriptions of real Scouting adventures from the past year. Bring your digital spaces to life with genuine moments that showcase what makes your unit special.

Tips for Success

  • Use current photos of smiling Scouts in action. Parents respond to real fun and genuine moments. Show your Scouts camping, hiking, or working on projects in local parks rather than relying on stock images.
  • Add a clear "Join Now" button or form that links directly to your program calendar. The easier it is for a parent to take the next step in under 30 seconds, the higher your conversion will be.
  • Test the pin yourself by searching as a parent would. Confirm it displays correctly for your ZIP code.
  • Start a simple summer content calendar. Plan two to three posts per week that highlight ongoing summer activities and build excitement for fall events.

By the End of June 28, You Should Have:

✅ An updated and accurate BeAScout.org unit pin
✅ Refreshed website and social media profiles with current information
✅ Fresh, authentic photos and descriptions showcasing real unit adventures
✅ A basic plan for consistent summer social media posts

A strong, professional online presence removes barriers and makes it simple for interested families across North Texas to learn about your unit and take that first step.

Stay tuned for Week 5 (June 29–July 5): Engaging Your Chartered Organization and School Partnerships.
