Hino

Captain Hinojosa, known as “HINO,” graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Police Science and began his law enforcement career that same year with the Denton Police Department. Starting as a Patrol Officer, he later served in the traffic section where he enforced traffic laws, investigated crashes, made DWI arrests, and became one of the department’s first motorcycle officers in the early 1990s. He was eventually promoted to Detective and later served as a Community Resource Officer, building strong relationships with Denton residents and businesses through public outreach and community events. Captain Hinojosa retired from the Denton Police Department as the Public Information Officer and, in 2017, joined the Denton County Sheriff’s Office as the Community and Media Relations Captain, where he continues to engage with the community while overseeing programs including Crime Stoppers, Volunteers in Policing, Citizen’s Academy, the Juvenile Impact Program, Explorers, and the Woman’s Empowerment Program.
