Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Boy Scout in Troop 151 as a youth in Atlanta, GA. Finding a Scouting connection with our nation’s servant leaders, past and present, allows us to strengthen our mission. A few years back, Bryan Wendell from Bryan on Scouting, enlisted the help of the BSA’s records management team and verified that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was indeed a Boy Scout from the age of 11 -13 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a federal holiday observed on the third Monday in January. His birthday is January 15th. We remember and salute his service to our country on MLK Day.
