Longhorn Council recommends in-person meetings for units with certain safety measures in place
Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America
Updated COVID-19 in-person meeting guidelines.
As of Friday, May 22, 2020
Dear Scouting family,
After careful consideration, planning, and studying the guidelines set forth by our local and state authorities, we are now able to recommend that all units begin in-person meetings.
All Scouting units are to consult with their Charter Organization to get their formal approval. This includes but is not limited to meeting space availability with proper sanitizing measures in place.
All should follow the safety protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
COVID-19, Frequently Asked Questions updated by the CDC today, May 22, 2020:
Please follow appropriate social distancing of six feet or more.
We encourage masks or cloth face coverings to be worn when indoors and limiting group sizes to ten or less.
Our senior citizens are encouraged to stay home at this time.
For your safety and to be in compliance, follow all guidelines under The Governor’s Strike Force to Open Texas. <<click here
Outdoor meetings and activities must follow the Governor’s “Open Texas” Checklists which has set minimum standard health protocols for Youth Clubs and Youth Club Participants (revised May 18, 2020):
Our LHC Service Centers and Scout Shops have recently re-opened with sanitizing measures implemented and abbreviated schedules.
At the moment, our camps’ hours of operation and protocols are under careful review. Stay tuned for that announcement so our LHC Scouts can enjoy the summer. We appreciate your patience as the Longhorn Council leadership works through all this with a fluid situation.
Please continue to visit the NEWS portion of our website for updates and more information.
Thanks again for all you do!
Be safe this Memorial Day weekend.
Yours in Scouting,
