Private: Adventure Race

Adventure Race for teams of two, three, or four racers, or for individuals. Race open to Troops, Teams, Crews, and the public.

The Adventure Race is a multi-discipline race open to solo racers and teams of 2, 3, or 4 people.  Individual and team competitors do: running, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, shooting, and climbing.   The Adventure Race is open to all Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Venture Crews, Parents, Leaders, and the public.

Two Race Categories:  Intermediate Racers and Advanced Racers

Race Sections

  • MUD Leg:  one leg will include mud
  • 1st Leg:   1 Runner
  • 2nd Leg: 2 Canoeists (1 for solo)
  • 3rd Leg:  1 Kayaker
  • 4th Leg:  1 Mountain Biker
  • 5th Leg:  1 Rifle Shooter
  • 6th Leg:  1 Climber for a 24’ climb.

LEG 1: RUN.  Competition starts with a 3K or 5K run by one team member & by all individual racers.  Running legs finish at Marina for the canoe leg start.

LEG 2: CANOE.  All teams will send two racers out in a tandem canoe for a 2K or 4K race. Solo racers paddle solo. Teams start when their runner reaches the Marina. Racers will paddle the course & return to the marina to hand off for the next leg: kayaking. Canoe’s are available on a first-come first served basis. Personal Canoes may be used.

LEG 3: KAYAK.  One team member and all solo racers will paddle a 1K course in a kayak & return to the marina to hand off for the bike leg.  Scout teams may use a camp kayak.  Non-Scouts should bring their own kayak. Personal Kayaks allowed.

LEG 4: MTN. BIKE.  Mtn. Bikers will ride a 5K or 8K loop ending at the race finish line. 2015 course will use part of the new SR2 Mtn. Bike Trail.  One bike per team. Bring your own mountain bike.

LEG 5: SHOOT.  Each team sends one shooter to the rifle range to shoot their team’s score.  Individual racers ride their bikes to the rifle range immediately after finishing the bike leg.  Individuals will shoot and then climb. Teams can send a shooter to the rifle range at any time after the race start.

LEG 6: CLIMB.  Each team sends one climber to the mobile climbing wall after the canoeing leg. Individual racers all climb.  Climbers will do a 24 foot climb and the time is added to the course time. All climbing gear is provided.

DINNER & AWARDS. After the race we will have a spaghetti lunch for all race competitors and an Awards ceremony.
