is an important tool that helps you make the Scouting program more
fun, more effective, and more rewarding for your youth, for your
adults, and for YOU! Check out the many training courses are
offered to Scouts and Scouters by the Longhorn Council Training
Committee, other committees, and by BSA at the famous Philmont Training
Center in New Mexico.

BALOO TRAINING NOTE: All Pack Family Camping requires one adult
certified in BALOO, the Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation.
Camp Rangers cannot allow a Pack to camp without a BALOO certified
leader onsite. Rangers cannot give any exceptions to this BSA policy.

YPT
NOTE: Youth Protection Training cards are good for three
years in the Longhorn Council. The State of Texas is specifically
NOT requiring those Scouters who took BSAs online Youth Protection
Training before May 15, 2006 to go back and retake the online YPT

Badge News Flash: Graduates
of Wood Badge courses prior to the 21st Century Wood Badge are now
eligible to participate in the new course! 2007 Wood Badge Course
now available!

Venturing
Powderhorn Course for Fall 2007
The
Longhorn Council and Capitol Area Council will offer a Powderhorn
Course for Venturing and Boy Scout leaders in September 2007. Powderhorn
is an advanced introduction to the skills necessary to oversee high
adventure programs, identify local resources and consultants for
high adventure activities, and the necessary certifications.
