Don’t miss the fun and excitement of this year’s Council Camporee, which will be held NOVEMBER 14-16 at Texas Motor Speedway. With more than 6,000 attendees expected, this special event looks to be the largest en-masse camp-out in the history of the Longhorn Council. Our program will be jam-packed with challenging activities, super shows, and awesome exhibits; so register NOW to enjoy this most excellent adventure.
REGISTRATION
IMPORTANT NOTE: To ensure proper leadership for the youth, registration must be UNIT-based rather than individual-based. Register only those who are firmly committed to attend because the event will be held “rain or shine”; and NO refunds will be issued, except for major medical reasons. (Refund requests must be made in writing and submitted to the Camporee Chairman within two days of the close of the event.)
Everyone who attends Camporee must register for the event; and all attendees will be issued an appropriately colored wristband, which must be worn at all times. For safety reasons, unregistered people will not be permitted on the premises.
Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts must camp, according to Pack Family Camping regulations, in the Cub Scout area. Webelos den members may camp with the Cub Scouts or with a Boy Scout troop—but only if prearranged by the host troop.
Visitors are welcome to attend Camporee; but they should be hosted by a scout unit and on its roster. They must also pay the appropriate fees, follow Camporee policies, and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with BSA guidelines.

ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN
ALL vehicles are to enter at the speedway’s main entrance on Labonte, off Highway 114. Everyone must also check in at the Headquarters’ tent to obtain wristbands, campsite directions, and other program materials. Carpooling is strongly encouraged to reduce the number of vehicles traveling to and through Camporee grounds.
From Headquarters, vehicles should proceed directly to the parking lot. Passengers will embark there and hike to their campsite. Equipment vehicles can be driven to the designated campsite area; but they should be moved to the parking area immediately after being unloaded. (If space permits, one trailer can remain at the campsite.)
CAMPSITE COMPETITION
Each district will have a designated, clearly marked camping area with campsites that have been assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and in accordance with unit size (based on pre-paid registration). Units are encouraged to erect gateways and to display patrol flags at their campsite entrances. Each district will recognize units with the best gateway and with the best patrol flag; and winners will be announced at the Camporee Show on Saturday night.
STAGE SHOW TALENT ACTS
Scouts are invited to audition for the talent show; and the top six acts will perform live at Saturday night’s Camporee Stage Show. The acts can be playing musical instruments; singing; dancing; performing skits, acrobatics, or magic; or doing any other “G-rated” entertainment. Acts may be performed by a single scout, a patrol, or a group of scouts; but each act is limited to three minutes. (Audition times will be pre-arranged.)
FIRE / FUELS
NO GROUND FIRES ARE ALLOWED! Charcoal, propane, or liquid fuel stoves are permitted. Charcoal cooking requires a grill with a lid. Any fire or cooking method that kills the grass either directly or through heat radiated from any type of platform or container is a ground fire and is not allowed.
Review liquid fuel information in The Guide to Safe Scouting. Only adults are allowed to handle liquid fuels; and all stoves and lanterns must be filled on the parking lot.
Whenever fire is burning in a campsite, an adult must be in attendance to oversee safety measures. Any fire that gets out of hand should immediately and properly be contained; and the incident, no matter how minor, should be reported to Camporee Headquarters.
FOOD PREPARATION
Keep meals simple because the schedule will be busy. One-pot or aluminum foil meals are suggested to minimize clean-up time and to conserve water.
WATER
EACH UNIT SHOULD BRING SELF-SUFFICIENT AMOUNTS OF WATER (preferably in non-disposable containers) because the on-site water supply is not easily accessible for campsites. Since activities and campsites will be spread across the speedway’s vast acreage, attendees should carry canteens, camel backs, or water bottles during the day.
GARBAGE
Please keep the Camporee grounds clean! Although limited trash receptacles will be available throughout the program and headquarter areas, ALL UNITS ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY HOME GARBAGE FROM THEIR CAMPSITES. In addition, attendees are asked to pick up and properly dispose of any trash found on the Camporee grounds.
LATRINES
Portable toilets will be on-site. A few flush toilets and showers will also be available.
FIRST AID
A First Aid Station, staffed by qualified emergency medical response personnel, will be located near Headquarters. All injuries must be reported to the First Aid Station. If the injury involves a child, an adult must accompanied that youth to and from the First Aid Station and, if necessary, the hospital.
A completed “Personal Health History and Parent Authorization” form is required for each participant. These health forms are to be kept on the premises by the unit and taken to the first aid facility if treatment is needed. The medical information is required if local hospital or emergency services become necessary.
TRADING POST
A Trading Post with scout goods and Camporee collectibles will be open on Saturday.
WORSHIP SERVICE
An inter-faith worship service will be held at 9:00 AM on Sunday. Money collected during the service will be donated to the World Fellowship Fund.
STAFFING
A large number of people will be required to staff administrative and activity areas of Camporee. If you are interested in helping, please complete a Camporee Staff Application Form (in the registation packet) and return it ASAP to JOHN PARK via e-mail jpark.1@charter.net or mail to John at 109 Lakeview Court, Weatherford, TX 76087.
