The Orienteering Committee extends its thanks and appreciation to the outstanding Troops, Scouts, and Scouters who helped make Cub-O 2008 another FUN day of hiking and friendly competition for Longhorn Council Cub Scouts, parents, and Leaders! Scores are posted below: 2008 CUB-O Scores. What is Cub-O?: Cub-O is a fun Orienteering competition for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos held each year right after the holiday break. Over 2000 Cub Scouts, leaders and parents participate each year in the CUB-O orienteering competitions. Each team of 3-6 Cubs gets a Cub-O map half an hour before the race starts. The map shows the location of 40 or more orange and white orienteering flags out on the camp. You and your boys look over the map and plan a strategy to find the most flags and score the maximum point total possible in 2 hours! Each flag has a pin punch that you punch the scorecard with. The Orienteering Committee will conduct map training sessions for Cub Scouts and parents all morning. Lunch will be served in the dining hall. Meal times will be assigned to minimize the length of serving lines. Units may do Pack Family Camping on Friday and/or Saturday night. After the event, each team's competition race maps will be available to pick up at the District Roundtable meetings in January or February. This is a rain or shine event: extreme inclement weather (ice or snow) may cause a one week postponement. Weather announcements will be made ON THIS WEBSITE. The Orienteering Committee thanks the dozens of volunteers and Scouts who help run Cub-O 2007! Join us for the next Cub-O orienteering event! 2629 Cub Scouts and adults attended Cub-O 2008. 2344 Cub Scouts and adults attended Cub-O 2007. 2152 Cub Scouts and adults attended Cub-O 2006. Over 1900 Cub Scouts and adults attended Cub-O 2005. Each team's competition maps and scores will be available at their District Roundtable meetings. Preliminary scores are posted below. The Orienteering Committee checked and scored each map several to make sure they are scored correctly. The final scores are posted after everyone has a chance to comment on possible typos or mistakes in the scoring. It usually takes 1-2 weeks after the preliminary scores are posted.
