Venturing Roundtables are always the last Tuesday of
the month at 7:30 PM: September 26, 2006 Legacy Church of Christ,
8801 Mid-Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills. October 31, 2006
at Legacy Church of Christ. All Venture Crews in Longhorn Council
are invited to the Venturing Roundtable. District Committee
Meetings are the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM: September
27, 2006 at the Longhorn Council Service Center. October 25,
2006 at the Longhorn Council Service Center.
Venture
Leader Specific Training
at Longhorn Council Service Center. There will be a Venturing
Adult Leader Training at the Longhorn Council Service Center,
850 Cannon Drive, Hurst, Texas 76054 on Saturday, September
23, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This course teaches techniques
for working with older youth in a coed program, Venturing and
Sea Scouting. Philip Hand is the Course Director. As always
training is free however pre-registration is requested. Please

Wanted: Venturing Instructors and participants for the first
Venturing District
Basic Outdoor Skills Camporee. The Basic Outdoor Skills
Camporee is open to all Venturers in Longhorn Council. The Camporee
will be at Camp Leroy Shuman in Lake Worth, Texas the weekend
of November 3, 4 & 5, 2006 and is an opportunity for Ventures
to teach Ventures!
Since many members of Venture Crews have not been Scouts the
purpose of this Camporee is to give those who are new to the
outdoors an opportunity to learn outdoor skills in a fun filled
environment.
Dan Griffith, Camporee Chief is looking for experienced Venturers
to teach the following activities: Proper Equipment, First Aid,
Fire Building, Using Outdoor Tools, Orienteering and “Leave
No Trace” Camping. If your crew is interested in helping
with this Camporee please contact Dan at thegriffiths@sbcglobal.net
or 817-498-7441. The registration fee is $9.00 per person and
reqistrations must reach the Council Office by October 31. Late
registrations will be $12.00 per person.
If your Crew is new to Venturing or if any of your members are
new to outdoor adventure this is a fun filled, learning weekend
with other young adults with similar interests.
This is a co-ed event and all co-ed crews must have both male
and female Advisors in attendance at all times.
