One of the Longhorn Council’s most popular events! Hike at your own speed: go fast and compete, or just have fun and learn. SCORE-O teaches your boys to think and read maps while hiking in the woods. Map training is held all morning. Your Den team gets a SCORE-O map one-hour before the race starts. Then you plan your strategy to find the most flags and score the most points in just 2 ½ hours! For teams of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, and adults. Everyone can enter!! Cub Scout camping IS allowed. We'll have a completely new 5-color orienteering maps for 2009 and now four 400 gallon water buffaloes for water refills. At Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.

The largest Orienteering event in the USA! It’s a fast and FUN orienteering competition at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch. This is an event that teaches your boys to think while hiking in the woods. Come and compete or just come out and hike! Map training is held all morning. Lunch in the Dining Hall is included. Family camping is permitted both Friday and Saturday!

All registered Cub Scouts are invited to participate. Create a railroad safety poster of any size. Print your name, address, phone number, program level, and pack number on the BACK of your poster. Every participant receives a special patch. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners of each of the 5 grade levels will receive a prize. Only one entry per person. (Posters will not be returned.) Take your finished poster to the Longhorn Council offices in Hurst or Waco. Entries will be accepted from March 1, 2010 until April 1, 2010. WINNER’S RECEPTION: 1st, 2nd, 3rd at each program level will receive an invitation to the Winner’s Reception April 24, 2010.

Council Annual Banquet and Annual Business Meeting
The banquet will feature the great accomplishments of the volunteers in the Longhorn Council. Special presentations will include the Silver Beaver Awards given for outstanding service to youth in the Longhorn Council. Silver Beaver Award Nomination forms are due in one of the council office by 5PM on March 1st.

The purpose of the class is to train Cub Scout BB & Archery instructors for Day Camps and weekend programs. Trainees agree to serve as range officers at least 3 days at day camp, district or council events such as Cub Family Adventures, Fall Festival, Cub Shootouts, Webelorees. For every 3 days an Instructor runs a range at day camp, district, & council events they get one Range Officer Certificate from the camping registrar and can use the certificates to run BB and Archery programs at a Council camp for their Pack. This class is sponsored by the Cub Scout Day Camp Committee and the Activities Committee.
